Have you ever asked yourself, how could the good people of Germany have succumbed to Hitler in the 1920’s and 1930’s? After losing WWI and experiencing the Great Depression, perhaps the German people were looking for an “I alone can fix it” type of  leader.

I went to a wedding. It was a perfect wedding in the flower-filled Arboretum in Dubuque with a lovely bride and a handsome groom.  The ceremony was elegant and classical, although some of it was Greek to me! But it was even more than that.

Tell me about toasters. I more or less know how they work – live wires behind bars that warm up bread or whatever and “toasts” it. But why, please tell me why, do the settings go from one to, in the case of our current toaster, seven? Bread toasted at one is barely warm. Bread toasted at two is getting beige. Bread toasted at four is too dark.
