Heights boys XC team 7th at Riverdale Invitational

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys cross country team finished in seventh place at the 17-team Riverdale Invite last Saturday. Vanguards senior Christian Patzka won the race in 15 minutes, 55.9 seconds. Boscobel won the boys race with 76 points to easily outdistance runner-up River Valley (127). The Vanguards were seventh with 188 points. In addition to Patzka’s big day, senior Zach Bauman was 10th in 17:55.0, sophomore Weston Parman was 34th (18:41.9), senior Cody Amble was 68th (19:46.2) and freshman Andrew Pietrzykowski was 75th (20:03.2). On the girls’ side, Boscobel won the team title with 65 points. Heights was sixth with 162 points. Vanguards freshman Samantha Herrling won the race in 19:13.7. Senior Kassidy Frame was 18th (21:54.3), sophomore Greine Simmert was 27th (22:25.5), junior Brianna Herrling was 46th (23:29.2) and senior Morgan Schult was 70th (26:32.4). “We ran 10 total season or personal best times this weekend,” Heights/Barneveld coach Sara Boutelle said. “Christian Patzka broke the 16 (minute) barrier and Zach Bauman broke the 18 (minute) barrier. “We have our group of rookie girls all running personal bests, and our leaders staying consistently towards the top of the pack.
