Blackhawks post-season run

The River Valley High School varsity boys football team began their post-season last Friday night with a game against the Adams-Friendship Green Devils, winning the game with a final score of 30-6. In the first quarter Will Bailey ran in nine yards for a touchdown. Valley got a two point conversion to put the score at 8-0 at the start of the game. In the second quarter Zach Gloudeman got a second touchdown for the Blackhawks to take the score up to 14-0. The third quarter had Bailey running in and getting a two point conversion for another eight points. In the fourth quarter Gloudeman had a 20 yard run for a touchdown and two point conversion. This was quickly answered by a Green Devil touchdown, which was not quite enough to beat the Hawks.  This was the first game in the year that was outside of the Blackhawks conference, the SWC. “Adams-Friendship was a nice change of pace for our team,” said River Valley head coach Tim Eastlick. “They run an offense similar to others that we have come up against this season. The same can be said for their defense. It is just nice to see someone different at this time of year.” Coach Eastlick discussed the game, speaking of his team, saying, “The offensive line and defensive line played up to our game plan. When they do this we are much better on both sides of the ball.”  Eastlick continued, pointing out certain players, saying, “Will (Bailey) had a solid night running and throwing the ball. His experience as a three year starter is evident during the game. Zach (Gloudeman) and Roman (Jensen) do a nice job complimenting each other’s running styles. They both have a nice mix of strength and speed.”  Highlights from the night include: Quarterback Bailey completed 14 of 19 passes for 206 yards. Gloudeman led in rushing with 13 attempts for 82 yards. Bailey had nine attempts with 42 yards and Jensen had six attempts for 33 yards. Leading the receiving game was Landon Alt with five receptions for 89 yards, followed by Gloudeman with three receptions for 48 yards, and Tyler Nachreiner with three receptions for 47 yards. Jadyon Rose had four tackles with Nachreiner, Kaleb Esser, Ethan Wickman, Sam Cady, Kalen Scott, and Landon Clary bringing in three tackles each.  The team heads to the next round of WIAA playoffs this Thursday, November 19, at home against the Richland Center Hornets with game time set for 7 p.m.
