HONOR STUDENTS

Sauk Prairie junior outside hitter Aida Shadewald was named first-team all-state in Division 1 by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association. Senior setter/outside hitter Olivia Breunig and junior libero Alia Schlimgen were both named honorable-mention all-state. That trio helped lead the Eagles to the WIAA Division 1 state tournament earlier this month. It marked the first time Sauk Prairie qualified for state since 2009, and the first time the Eagles ever reached the state tournament in Division 1. Shadewald finished the year with 409 kills, the third most in the state across all divisions. She also finished ninth in the state with 354 digs. “This is huge and well deserved as she is one of the best hitters in the state,” Sauk Prairie coach Amy Schlimgen said. “She is an amazing all-around player with an amazing vertical.  “Her hits and her blocks bring so much excitement to the game! I can’t wait to see what her volleyball future holds for her, but we are so thankful to have her around for another year.” Breunig was named honorable-mention all-state for the second straight year. In 2019, she earned that honor in Division 2, but this year it came in Division 1 as the Eagles jumped up a flight. Breunig finished 19th in the state across all divisions with 233 kills and 28th in the state with 408 kills.  “Olivia has been a great leader and captain for this program and will be greatly missed next season,” Schlimgen said of Breunig. “Her athleticism and strength will also be missed, as will her willingness to help out in any way.” Alia Schlimgen returned from a torn ACL this season and led the entire state in digs with 483. Alia Schlimgen was also voted to the all-state tournament team for her performance at state. This honor is based solely on the athlete’s performance and statistics at the state tournament. “Alia never lets up in practices or games and also provides great leadership on the court,” Amy Schlimgen said of her daughter. “She has great court sense and is a very high-energy, determined player!”         FIRST TEAM         ALL-STATE Jordan Berglin, Sr., Pewaukee  Tatum Catalano, Sr., Germantown  Lakyn Graves, Sr., Sussex Hamilton  Anna Holland, Sr., Waukesha West  Maleah Howe, Jr., Oconomowoc  Samantha Naber, Sr., Burlington*  Aida Shadewald, Jr., Sauk Prairie  Janelle Stuempfig, Sr., Sussex Hamilton*  Anna Wolf, Sr., River Falls  Mckenna Wucherer, Jr., Brookfield Central*        SECOND TEAM Alexis Boling, Sr., Waukesha West  Morgan Daugherty, Jr., Brookfield Central  Elise Gillen, Jr., Slinger  Grace Grocholski, So., Kettle Moraine  Mariah Grunze, Sr., Waterford  Morgan Kealy, So., River Falls  Monica LaFleur, Sr., Arrowhead  Katelyn Lefler, Sr., Sussex Hamilton  Camryn Lukenbill, Sr., Burlington  Natalie Tesch, Sr., Wisconsin Lutheran           HONORABLE             MENTION Abby Alan, So., Burlington  Lydia Biggin, Jr., Burlington  Kaitlyn Bingham, Sr., Oconomowoc  Hailey Boelter-Eberhardt, Sr., Pewaukee  Brooklyn Boushack, Sr., Marshfield  Bella Bratzke, Sr., Kenosha Indian Trail  Olivia Breunig, Sr., Sauk Prairie  Sophia Brown, Sr., Germantown  Kyleigh Coghlan, So., Kettle Moraine  Lauren DeStefanis, Sr., Divine Savior Holy Angels  Ava Ellegard, Sr., Nicolet  Abby Gardner, Sr., Mukwonago  Haley Graetz, Jr., River Falls  Riley Hamilton, Jr., Hartford  Grace Hanel, Sr., Oak Creek  Katie Heidenrich, Jr., Nicolet  Abby Hoffmann, Sr., Hartford  Melia Johnson, Fr., Slinger  Tatum Kebisek, Jr., Brookfield Central  Haley Koch, Jr., Oconomowoc  Ashley Kopp, Sr., Muskego  Mackenzie Leach, Sr., Burlington  Ally Longden, Sr., Pewaukee  Holly Malkowski, Sr., Fox Valley Lutheran  Grace Michalske, Sr., Wausau West  Kelly Page, Sr., Merrill  Lainy Pettit, Sr., Union Grove  Brooke Porter, Jr., Muskego  Alia Schlimgen, Jr., Sauk Prairie  Grace Schneider, Jr., Wisconsin Lutheran  Rebecca Siedenburg, Jr., Kettle Moraine  Jade Stefan, Sr., Arrowhead  Kady Stigler, Sr., Menomonee Falls  Madi Tolzman, Jr., Arrowhead  Lily Wagner, So., Germantown  Julia Wojciak, Jr., Divine Savior Holy Angels  Sylvie Zgonc, So., Hamilton *  * — Denotes Unanimous First Team All-State Honors
