Eagles’ lacrosse team splits a pair

Sauk Prairie’s boys lacrosse team split a pair of games last week. The Eagles dropped a 13-1 decision to Madison Edgewood on April 9. Sauk Prairie then cruised to an 8-0 win over Watertown on April 11. Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ week: • Madison Edgewood 13, Sauk Prairie 1 — Sophomore attacker Zander Kellogg had the Eagles’ lone goal. “We have a very young team this year and for many of our players, this game was their first real varsity experience,” Sauk Prairie coach Zach Lare said. “It was a great growing experience for them, to truly get a glimpse to see what play at the varsity level looks like.” • Sauk Prairie 8, Watertown 0 — Senior midfielder Will Judge had three goals and an assists, while sophomore A.J. Klemm had two goals to power the Eagles. Sophomore attackers Zander Kellogg, Drew Strathman and Kaleb Chetwood all added goals, while senior defender Steve Romaker had an assist. “This was a great bounce back game for our team,” Lare said. “The defense played great, even contributing to our scoring. Lucas Rehlinger is in his first year as our varsity goalie and had his first career shutout in net, which was awesome to see! “The offense began to click more in the second half. We are hoping to see that momentum carry on into the next game.”
