Heights track teams toppled by Belleville/New Glarus
The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld track and field teams performed well, but both dropped close contests with Belleville/New Glarus on April 9.
The Vanguards’ boys dropped a 91-66 decision, while the Heights/Barneveld girls lost, 94-59.
Heights/Barneveld’s top performers on the boys’ side included:
• Junior Cody Blicharz won the 100-meter dash and freshman Evan Cribbs was third.
• Blicharz also won the 200-meter dash and sophomore Keevon Owen was third.
• Junior Kirk Caminiti won the 1,600-meter run.
• Senior Trevor Baryenbruch won the 3,200-meter run.
• Junior John Reader won the discus and the shot put. Freshman Charlie Reader was third in the shot put.
• Sophomore Travis Dreikosen was second in the 400-meter dash.
• The Vanguards’ 1,600- and 3,200-meter relay teams both finished first.
• The Vanguards’ 400- and 800-meter relay teams were both second.
• Junior Griffin Owens was second in the high jump and second in the long jump.
• Sophomore Keevon Owen was second in the triple jump.
• Senior Drew Jacobus was second in the 300-meter hurdles and junior Griffin Owens was third.
Heights/Barneveld’s top performers on the girls’ side included:
• Junior Bryn Meyer won the 100-meter dash and freshman Jocelyn Henn was third.
• Meyer also won the 200-meter dash and senior Kennedi Neumaier was third.
• Sophomore Izabel Durst won the 400-meter dash, while sophomore Anya Gresch was third.
• Durst also won the 800-meter run, while sophomore Tirzah Caminiti was third.
• Junior Bryn Meyer won the long jump and Izabel Durst was second.
• Freshman Allie Beuthin won the discus, while freshman Ella Wick was third. Beuthin and Wick also finished second and third, respectively, in the shot put.
• The Vanguards’ 1,600-meter relay team was first, while their 400- and 800-meter relay teams were both second.
• Sophomore Anya Gresch was second in the 300-meter hurdles.
• Freshman Jalen Kittelson was second in the high jump.
