Tennis Eagles start slow

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis team is still looking for a branch of consistency to hold onto. But the Eagles are making gains. Oregon defeated the Eagles, 7-0, on April 9. Sauk Prairie fell to 0-5 on the young season. “We saw a lot of improvement in our doubles teams and had many great points throughout the night,” Eagles coach Morgan Lee said.  Sauk Prairie No. 3 singles player Charlie Endres played extremely well, before falling to Oregon’s Gavin Magee, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. “The match of the night goes to Charlie Endres,” Lee said. “After losing his first set, he amped up his play to keep even with his opponent.  “After exchanging games back and forth, Charlie gained his momentum and took the next four games to win the second set 6-2. He and his opponent began their third set and both broke each other’s services games back and forth. Oregon ended up getting the last couple of games to then close out the set and match. “Charlie played smart and handled the pressure of the match well. It fun to see the team really rally behind him for his match once all other matches were finished and his match was the only one still on the court.”   Oregon 7, Sauk Prairie 0 Singles: No. 1 — Hayden Lohrentz, Oregon def.
