Boys lacrosse team drops three

Sauk Prairie’s boys lacrosse team dropped three games last week. The Eagles fell to Neenah, 12-0, on April 15. DeForest toppled Sauk Prairie, 6-1, on April 18. And Marquette bested the Eagles, 11-4, last Saturday. Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ games. • Neenah 12, Sauk Prairie 0 — The Eagles lost handily to the Rockets, but Sauk Prairie coach Zach Lare saw a number of positives. “The score may not reflect it, but the defense actually played incredibly well,” Lare said. “We had to play a majority of the game on the defensive half of the field. “Freshman defenseman Clifton Kimball had to step in and start the game. He played incredibly well next to two of our senior defenseman — Steve Romaker and Karsyn Banta.” • DeForest 6, Sauk Prairie 1 — Steve Romaker had a goal for the Eagles and A.J. Klemm had an assist, but it wasn’t enough. “This was a game that we were kept in due to a very strong performance from our defensive unit,” Lare said. “The defense has been doing well through the early part of the season and they stepped it up even more against DeForest.” • Marquette 11, Sauk Prairie 4 — The Eagles showed some life on offense, but fell to the Hilltoppers. Sophomore attacker Zander Kellogg had two goals, while senior midfielder Will Judge had a goal and an assist. Senior defenseman Karsyn Banta had a goal, while sophomore attacker Drew Strathman had an assist. “The first half was a growing experience for many of our younger players,” Lare said. “We were missing a few of our starting players, so many of these younger players had to step up. They showed quick growth as the second half looked much cleaner on both sides of the ball.”
