Baseball Vanguards drop three

Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team dropped all three of its games last week and fell to 1-10 on the season. “We continue to improve as a team as we are battling through some injuries,” Heights manager Ted Severson said. “We hope to have some key players back to health soon and make a strong second half run.” Here’s a recap of the Vanguards’ week. • Cambridge 10, Wisconsin Heights 0 (5) — The Vanguards committed five errors and were held without a hit in a game stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule on April 23. • Cambridge 5, Wisconsin Heights 1 — The Blue Jays defeated the Vanguards for the second time in three days with a win on April 25. Brayden Van Riper went 2-for-3 with an RBI single for Heights, while Chuck Reader went 3-for-3 at the plate. • River Valley 25, Wisconsin Heights 19 — The Vanguards rallied from a 21-8 deficit and nearly battled all the way back, but eventually fell on April 27. “Our players never gave up,” Severson said. River Lubchansky went 5-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Quinn Payne went 2-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI. Reed Adler went 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs, while Nolan Keith went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Lucas Lemke went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Ryan Flynn went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
