Eagles land three on all-conference team
Sauk Prairie’s girls softball team landed three players on the all-Badger Small Conference team.
Sophomore shortstop Alayna Robertson was named second-team all-conference. Junior outfielder Thea Harpold and junior third baseman Lexi Cegielski were both named honorable mention all-conference.
Robertson led the Eagles in batting average (.371), OPS (1.020), slugging percentage (.614), hits (26), doubles (eight) and runs scored (20). Her offensive highlight was a two home run game versus Stoughton.
“Alayna steadily grew into the position of shortstop over the course of the season,” Sauk Prairie manager Shane Been said. “She had numerous highlights at the position, including throwing out a girl at third base with perfect relay throw and a smart double play to seal the win for our first regional victory. At the plate, Alayna continues to grow into a leader and we look forward to her taking another huge step forward in 2025.”
Cegielski batted .327 with a .431 on-base percentage, a .527 slugging percentage and a .958 OPS. Cegielski was second on the team with 18 hits, had a team-high 12 RBIs, belted two home runs, was second in runs scored (15), had five doubles and drew eight walks.
“Lexi is another athlete who took strides as a player,” Been said of Cegielski. “She overcame a position change and a slow start to finish the year strong.
“Lexi finished the year with the second most hits, including her first two home runs. Lexi became a rock at third base, gobbling up all balls that came her way and getting dirty getting after the ball. She is another athlete ready to break out in 2025.”
Harpold batted .250 with a .364 on-base percentage and a .631 OPS. Harpold led the Eagles with seven stolen bases and was third with 13 runs scored.
“Thea continued to grow as a player this year,” Been said of Harpold. “She utilized her speed and ability in the outfield and on the basepaths. She had numerous crucial bunts for base hits and sacrifices and made several great plays in the outfield.
“She was flexible, ready to play second and pitch as needed besides her usual work in center field. Thea is primed to finish her career well in 2025.”
