Vanguards’ XC teams compete at Mount Horeb

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld cross country teams competed at the Mount Horeb Invitational last Saturday. The Vanguards’ boys finished ninth out of 11 teams, while the girls were eighth out of eight teams. DeForest won the boys race with 26 points, while Heights/Barneveld finished with 223 points. Senior Kirk Caminiti finished 10th individually, completing the 5,000-meter race in 17 minutes, 32.21 seconds. Junior Travis Dreikosen was 34th (18:57.90), junior Noah Doescher was 52nd (19:55.0), senior Trevor Owens was 60th (20:26.90) and sophomore Andrew Murray was 67th (21:42.20). Sauk Prairie won the girls race with 42 points, while the Vanguards finished with 218 points. Junior Izabel Durst led Heights/Barneveld with a 35th place finish, completing the 5,000-meter course in 24:30.40. Junior Tirzah Caminiti was 37th (24:37.50), junior Bela Muschitz was 46th (26:59.60), sophomore Eliza Gordon was 49th (27:35.71) and freshman Natalie Wilson was 51st (27:58.50).
