Wisconsin Heights spikers top New Glarus

Wisconsin Heights’ girls volleyball team notched a thrilling 25-21, 36-34, 29-17, win over New Glarus on Sept. 24. “What an incredible match for our team,” Heights coach katie Doescher said. “This was a night where everything came together for these girls. Each player contributed to our win and they showed everyone, and most importantly showed themselves, what they are capable of as a team.” Lydia Crowe led the Vanguards with seven kills and two blocks, while Izzy Sutherland had five kills and two blocks. Lauren Smith had four kills and six blocks, Sonja Severson had 19 digs and Mia Blicharz added 11 assists. “It’s one thing for coaches to tell the team how much they believe in them, and another thing for the team to actually feel it and see it in how they play together,” Doescher said. “And that’s what happened in our match against Waterloo. I think they really started believing in what’s possible.  “Even during set (No.) 2 which was a battle just to win back set point over and over again, they never got rattled and never gave up. I’m so proud of our girls and the determination, resilience and mental toughness they showed.”
