Goal No. 1 has been achieved. Now, Sauk Prairie’s girls volleyball team can focus on even bigger and better. The Eagles went 4-1 at the Badger Small Conference tournament last Saturday, with their only loss coming to Madison Edgewood. Sauk Prairie also went 7-0 during the conference dual meet season, and when those two components were added together, it gave the Eagles the overall conference title. “Winning conference was every single player’s goal this season, so it meant so much to our team,” Eagles coach Allison Steinmetz said. “We played hard, worked as a team and had fun.” Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ day: • Sauk Prairie 2, Baraboo 0 — The Eagles rolled to a 25-13, 25-13 win. Gracyn Meyer had eight kills and two aces, Mallory Hartwig had seven kills, two blocks and four digs, Greta Shadewald had 20 assists and Mackenna Murphy added 10 digs. • Sauk Prairie 2, Reedsburg 0 — The Eagles posted a 25-18, 25-18 win. Mallory Hartwig had eight kills and 14 digs, while Ella Logterman and Marisa Kruckman both had seven kills. Greta Shadewald had 20 assists, while both Mackenna Murphy and Leah Allen had five digs. • Sauk Prairie 2, Madison Edgewood 0 — The Eagles notched a 25-20, 25-22 win. Mallory Hartwig had a tremendous match with 14 kills, two aces and 10 digs, while Alaina Kraemer had five kills and Gracyn Meyer had four kills. Greta Shadewald had 18 assists and Leah Allen had nine digs. • Madison Edgewood 2, Sauk Prairie 0 — The Crusaders posted a 25-12, 25-14 win. Greta Shadewald had eight assists, while Mackenna Murphy and Mallory Hartwig added six digs. • Sauk Prairie 2, McFarland 0 — The Eagles finished their day with a 25-17, 25-20 win over the Spartans. Alaina Kraemer had eight kills and two digs, while Mallory Hartwig had six kills, three aces and three digs. Greta Shadewald had 17 assists and four digs, Mackenna Murphy added 10 digs, and Gracyn Meyer and Ella Logterman both had three aces. • Sauk Prairie 3, Madison Memorial 0 — The Eagles rolled past the Spartans, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19, in a non-conference match on Oct. 10. Mallory Hartwig led the way with 10 kills, 19 digs and two aces, while Gracyn Meyer had 10 kills and Alaina Kraemer had nine kills. Greta Shadewald had 27 assists and six aces, Leah Allen added eight digs and Marisa Kruckman had six digs. • Sauk Prairie 3, Stoughton 0 — The Eagles posted a 25-15, 30-28, 25-10 win. Mallory Hartwig had 19 kills and 11 digs, while Gracyn Meyer had nine kills, five aces and five digs. Greta Shadewald had 31 assists, Ella Logterman had seven kills and four aces and Marisa Kruckman had 10 digs. • On deck: The Eagles competed at the Badger Challenge on Tuesday. “We are looking forward to the Badger Challenge with our postseason right behind that,” Steinmetz said.
