Hockey Eagles fall to Oregon

The Sauk Prairie co-op boys hockey team fell to Oregon, 6-2, on Jan. 3.  The Eagles, who have players from Mount Horeb, Barneveld, River Valley and Wisconsin Heights, fell to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in the Badger Conference. Connor Grant scored midway through the first period on an assist from Landon Froese to give Sauk Prairie a 1-0. The Panthers scored the next two goals, before Quinn Payne’s power play goal early in the third period tied the game, 2-2. Oregon answered with four goals in 11 minutes, though and pulled away. Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ recent games, as well. • Sauk Prairie 8, Viroqua 3 — Kaleb Chetwood had two goals and an assist to power the Eagles past the Blackhawks on Dec. 20. Lucas Rehlinger, Brock Hill, Connor Grant, Josh Mast, Quinn Payne and Gunnar Nachreiner added goals for Sauk Prairie. Corbin Domka had 17 saves for the Eagles. • Madison Memorial 3, Sauk Prairie 2 — Gunnar Nachreiner had a pair of goals for the Eagles, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the Spartans on Dec. 26. Quinn Payne and Carl Weiss both had assists for Sauk Prairie. Corbin Domka finished with 30 saves for the Eagles. • Cedarburg 3, Sauk Prairie 1 — The Eagles fell to the Bulldogs on Dec. 27. Greyden Schomber had Sauk Prairie’s lone goal. • Sauk Prairie 6, Ashland 0 — Brock Hill had a pair of goals as the Eagles rolled past the Oredockers on Dec. 28. Josh Mast, Quinn Payne, Gunnar Nachreiner and Carl Weiss all added goals, as well. Corbin Domka had 19 saves and a shutout for the Eagles. • On deck: The Eagles were at Monroe Tuesday, then travel to Waupun Thursday at 7 p.m. and host Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells Saturday at 7 p.m.
