Eagles’ co-op hockey team seeded eighth

The postseason path for Sauk Prairie’s co-op hockey team will be a tough one. The Eagles received the No. 8 seed in their sectional last weekend. Sauk Prairie will host the ninth-seeded Aquinas co-op on Feb. 18 in a regional semifinal. If the Eagles win there, they’ll travel to top-seeded Madison Edgewood for a regional final on Feb. 20 at the Verona Ice Arena. The sectional semifinals are Feb. 25 and the sectional finals are Feb. 28 or March 1. Madison Edgewood is the top seed in the sectional, followed by Verona, Waunakee, Middleton, Sun Prairie, Madison West, Madison Memorial, Sauk Prairie, Aquinas co-op, Onalaska/La Crosse co-op, Reedsburg/Mauston/Wisconsin Dells, DeForest and Baraboo/Portage. The Eagles defeated Milton, 4-1, on Feb. 6 and improved to 11-12 on the year. Sauk Prairie is also 6-5 in the Badger Conference. The Eagles raced to a 3-0 lead over Milton after the first period and never looked back. Brock Hill finished with two goals for Sauk Prairie, while Greyden Schomber and Carl Weiss both had goals, as well. Benjamin Hanko, Lucas Rehlinger, Landon Froese, Josh Mast, Kaleb Chetwood, Caden Argall and Nolan Keith all had assists for Sauk Prairie. Goalie Maddox Wood had 16 saves and finished with a .941 save percentage to pick up the win.
