Hockey Eagles set for playoffs

Sauk Prairie’s co-op hockey team finished the regular season with a 4-1 loss to Waunakee on Feb. 10. The Eagles finished the regular season 11-13 overall and 6-6 in the Badger in the Badger Conference. In Sauk Prairie’s loss to the Warriors, they fell behind, 4-0, and couldn’t recover. Quinn Payne had the Eagles’ lone goal on assists from Ryan Rickard and Connor Grant. Corbin Domka finished with 37 saves for the Sauk Prairie. The Eagles now head to the postseason, where they hosted Aquinas Tuesday in a regional semifinal. If Sauk Prairie won there, it will travel to top-seeded Madison Edgewood for a regional final on Feb. 20 at the Verona Ice Arena. The sectional semifinals are Feb. 25 and the sectional finals are Feb. 28 or March 1. Madison Edgewood was the top seed in the sectional, followed by Verona, Waunakee, Middleton, Sun Prairie, Madison West, Madison Memorial, Sauk Prairie, Aquinas co-op, Onalaska/La Crosse co-op, Reedsburg/Mauston/Wisconsin Dells, DeForest and Baraboo/Portage.
