Susan Elizbeth Sadler

Susan Elizbeth Sadler

On the evening of January 12th, 2026 Susan Elizbeth Sadler of Lone Rock, passed away during a dinner with her children. She was a well-known and beloved member of the River Valley community. Everyone remembers her as a talented and creative Kindergarten teacher who went above and beyond in making a difference in so many young lives. Her life-long passion for teaching spanned over 40 years, 37 of which were teaching kindergarten in the River Valley School District. By our estimate she touched the lives of well over a thousand students in her career. Born July 26, 1949 to Ben and Helen Silko, she graduated from River Valley High School in 1967 and went on to obtain her degree in Education from UW Oshkosh in 1971. She married Richard (Dick) Sadler in June of 1975 and they made their home in Lone Rock, Wisconsin. In her own words, “I have been a child, sister, wife, mother, aunt, teacher, friend, neighbor.” Sue was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, was a master Scrabble player, baked the best crinkle cookies, loved cats, cared for numerous house plants, reliably sent cards, loved local lore, and never turned down the opportunity to enjoy a cheeseburger. During her retirement she contributed many hours with various community organizations including: The Lone Rock Historical Society, Richland Area Retired Educators Association, The Lone Rock Library Board, Wisconsin Retired Educators Association, The American Legion Auxiliary, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Sue is survived by her children, Rebecca and Paul; siblings, Mary (Rod) Ellner, Jack (Connie) Silko, Kathy (Dennis) Nachreiner, Joe Silko, Jim (Pam) Silko, and Barbara (Dave) Silko-Hose; sister-in-law, Janice (John) Wiskamp; numerous nieces and nephews and their children; former coworkers, friends and neighbors. A visitation will be held at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green on January 27 from 4-7pm, with words of remembrance at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the River Valley Schools Weekend Backpack or Project Lunchbox programs, or a charity of your choice.
