Eagles’ swimmers down Stoughton on ‘Senior Night’

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimming and diving team defeated Stoughton, 101-69, on Jan. 28. The Eagles finished their conference dual meet season with a 4-1 mark. The Eagles had first place finishes in four individual events and one relay. But Sauk/Heights’ depth helped it defeat the Vikings. It was both ‘Senior Night’ and ‘Youth Night’ and thew Eagles recognized this year’s four seniors: Strahinja Jovancic, Adam Kaukl, Connor McQueen and Evan Schultze.   The youth swimmers that compete in the summer Tri-County Conference with the Sauk Prairie Pool Sharks and Mazomanie Barracudas were also recognized.   “Our team autographed their team posters for them at the conclusion of the meet, so they each took home a souvenir poster,” Sauk/Heights coach Todd Wuerger said. The Eagles’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Adam Kaukl, Ethan Goodman, Levi Shadewald and Caleb Gregg was first, while the quartet of Ian Quayle, Connor McQueen, Cy Welch and Evan Schultze was second. The 200-yard medley relay team of Shadewald, Jacob Klein, Kaukl and McQueen was second, while the foursome of Reid Rinabarger, Wilson Ederer, Schultze and Quintin Larsen was third. And the Eagles’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Gregg, Rinabarger, Klein and Goodman was second, while the quartet of Larsen, Joseph Burton, Wilson and Welch was third. Goodman was first in the 50-yard freestyle, while McQueen was third. Goodman also won the 100-yard butterfly, while Quayle was third. Kaukl won the 100-yard butterfly and McQueen was second. Welch was first in the 500-yard freestyle and Burton was second. Gregg was second in the 200-yard freestyle, while Welch was third. Shadewald was second in the 200-yard IM, while Kaukl was third. Shadewald was second in the 100-yard breaststroke and Klein was third. And Gregg was second in the 100-yard backstroke. Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights also defeated Madison Edgewood on Jan. 30. Individual and team scores weren’t available, though. • On deck: The Eagles will be at the Badger Small Conference Saturday at 1 p.m. at Jack Young Middle School in Baraboo.
