Eagles’ swimmers make a splash

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimming team won the Platteville-Lancaster Invitational last Saturday. The Eagles finished with 689 points, while La Crosse Central/Logan was second with 425. Onalaska/Holmen/Aquinas/Luther was third with 359 points, while Platteville/Lancaster was fourth at 323. The Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay team of Levi Shadewald, Cy Welch, Adam Kaukl and Connor McQueen was first, while the quartet of Reid Rinabarger, Wilson Ederer, Evan Schultze and Finn Sutherland finished fourth. Sauk/Heights’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ethan Goodman, Jacob Klein, Rinabarger and Caleb Gregg was first, while the foursome of Sutherland, Quintin Larsen, Schultze and Brayden Birkett was third. And the Eagles’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kaukl, Goodman, Shadewald and Gregg were first, while the quartet of Birkett, McQueen, Welch and Klein were third. Klein won the 200-yard freestyle, while Birkett was fourth. Gregg won the 100-yard IM, while Goodman was second, Shadewald was third, Rinabarger was fourth and Welch was fifth. Goodman won the 50-yard freestyle, while Gregg was second, McQueen was fourth and Shadewald was fifth.  Kaukl won the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard butterfly, while Klein was second and McQueen was fourth in the 100-yard butterfly. Birkett was second in the 500-yard freestyle, while Ederer and Larsen were third and fourth, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke. And in the 100-yard backstroke, Sutherland and Joseph Burton were fourth and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke. • On deck: The Eagles were are Madison Edgewood Thursday at 6:15 p.m. Sauk Prairie is then at the Badger Conference meet at Baraboo High School Feb. 8 at 1 p.m.
