Sauk/Heights swimmers 7th at Middleton Invitational

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights swimmers finished in seventh place at the 10-team Middleton Cardinal Relays last Saturday. Host Middleton finished first with 243 points, while Verona was second (154) and Madison West was third (151). The Eagles finished with 66 points. The Eagles’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Caleb Gregg, Ethan Goodman, Levi Shadewald and Adam Kaukl was fourth. Sauk/Heights’ Gregg, Shadewald, Kaukl and Cy Welch finished sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay, while the Eagles’ 300-yard breaststroke relay team of Goodman, Jacob Klein, Welch and Shadewald was also sixth. The Eagles’ Goodman, Connor McQueen, Klein and Reid Rinabarger were eighth in the 100-yard freestyle relay, while the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Goodman, Gregg, McQueen and Shadewald was also eighth. The foursome of Rinabarger, McQueen, Finn Sutherland and Welch were ninth in the 400-yard medley, while the quartet of Sutherland, Brayden Birkett, McQueen and Quinten Larsen were also ninth in the 500-yard freestyle. The Eagles’ 300-yard backstroke relay team of Larsen, Rinabarger, Birkett and Sutherland, and the 200-yard medley relay team of Larsen, Wilson Ederer, Cole Schultz and Jeremy Martell both finished 10th. Sauk/Heights’ foursome of Gregg, Klein, Kaukl and Birkett was 10th in the 400-yard medley class relay, while the team of Ian Quayle, Evan Schultze, Finn Abernathy and Ederer was 10th in the 300-yard butterfly relay. • McFarland 104, Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights 66 — The Spartans defeated the Eagles on Jan. 14. Sauk/Heights got first place finished from Caleb Gregg in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. The Eagles’ quartet of Ethan Goodman, Connor McQueen, Adam Kaukl and Gregg won the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sauk/Heights’ second place finishes came from Goodman in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, Kaukl in the 100-yard butterfly and Jacob Klein in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Eagles’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Gregg, Goodman, Klein and Cy Welch, and their 200-yard medley relay team of Reid Rinabarger, Klein, Kaukl and McQueen were also second.
