Eagles’ swimmers third at Verona

The Sauk Prairie-Wisconsin Heights boys swimming team finished in third place at the 10-team Verona Invite on Jan. 28. Verona won the meet with 561.5 points, while McFarland (405), Sauk-Heights (264), Waunakee (258) and DeForest (232) rounded out the top five. Ethan Goodman, Caleb Gregg, Levi Shadewald and Adam Kaukl teamed up to finish third in the 100-yard freestyle relay for the Eagles. The group of Goodman, Connor McQueen, Shadewald, Reid Rinabarger, Jacob Klein, Cy Welch, Gregg and Kaukl also finished third in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Gregg was third in the 200-yard freestyle and Kaukl was 10th. Kaukl was third in the 100-yard butterfly and Goodman was eighth. Shadewald was fifth in the 500-yard freestyle and Goodman added a seventh place finish in the 100-yard IM. Gregg was ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Connor McQueen was ninth in the 100-yard freestyle and Rinabarger was 10th in the 200-yard IM. The Eagels also finished in 25th place out of 28 teams at the Marquette Invite last Satuday.
