Sauk Prairie swimmers 5th at conference

Sauk Prairie’s girls swimming team tied for fifth place at the Badger Small Conference meet last Saturday. Madison Edgewood won the team title with 583 points, while Monroe/New Glarus was second at 413. Lodi/River Valley/Wisconsin Heights was third at 297, McFarland was fourth at 272 and the Eagles and Mount Horeb tied for fifth with 153 points. The Eagles’ divers had a terrific performance as Claire Hartman finished in third place with 364.65 points, McKenna Breunig was fourth (305.70) and Addison Ranzenberger was fifth (294.30). Kaylee Oleson won the 100-yard freestyle, while Alyssa Himebach was fourth, Natalie Klein was 14th, Ava Flanagan was 15th and Gracia Bare was 20th. Oleson was also 20th in the 100-yard breaststroke. Alyssa Himebach was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle, Ava Flanagan was 14th and Kate Himebach was 19th. Natalie Klein was 16th in the 200-yard freestyle, Ava Handschke was 17th in the 500-yard freestyle and Natalie Ballweg was 20th in the 100-yard butterfly. Claire Handschke was 17th in the 100-yard backstroke and Joslyn Schultz was 18th. The Eagles’ quartet of Kaylee Oleson, Natalie Klein, Ava Flanagan and Alyssa Himebach finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. And Sauk Prairie’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Alyssa Himebach, Klein, Flanagan and Oleson were also fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay. • On deck: The Eagles are at the WIAA Division 2 McFarland Sectional Saturday at 1 p.m. The state meet is Nov. 15 at Waukesha South High School.
