Vanguards’ soccer team seeded ninth

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys soccer team received the No. 9 seed in their sectional and will travel to eighth-seeded Central Christian Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. in a regional semifinals. If the Vanguards win there, they’d travel to top-seeded Lake Country Lutheran for a regional final Oct. 26. Lake Country Lutheran is the No. 1 seed in the sectional, followed by St. John’s Northwestern, Lodi, Madison Country Day, Wayland Academy, Winnebago Lutheran, River Valley, Central Christian, Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld, Richland Center, Watertown Luther Prep, Mayville, Lomira, University Lake School, Columbus, Mauston and Faith Christian. Heights/Barneveld is currently 5-6-4 overall. The Vanguards lost to Lodi, 3-0, on Oct. 8, then tied Columbus, 2-2, on Oct. 10.
