Two Eagles’ golfers named all-conference

Sauk Prairie’s boys golfers had a sensational season, finishing second in the Badger Small Conference and advancing to a WIAA Division 1 sectional. Garret Mittelstaedt was named first-team all-conference and sophomore Graysen Dunn earned second-team honors.   “It was an important goal for both of them and they both played very consistent golf in our conference mini (meets) and the conference tour-nament to earn the honors,” Sauk Prairie coach Shane Frey said. Mittelstaedt finished the year with an 83.38 average for 18 holes. He was joined on the first team by Edgewood sophomore Drew Bindl, who was the conference’s Player of the Year, Stoughton senior Sam Hjortland, Baraboo senior Tyler Poker and McFarland sophomore Addison Pennekamp. “Garret will be greatly missed,” Frey said. “I am really happy that he was able to compete at sectionals this year. I know that it was goal of his and he went out and made it happen with his performance at our regional.” Dunn finished the year with an 83.46 average. He was joined on the sec-ond team by Mount Horeb senior Jack Vesperman and sophomore Jude Young, Stoughton senior Coiln Quam and Baraboo freshman Jack Brinker. Sauk Prairie’s Gavin Goetsch (83.46), Gavin Falde (86.3) and Colin Harring-ton (87.36) also had strong years and were in the running for all-conference recognition. “I am super proud of our team,” Frey said. “We had a great year, made great strides from last year.”         All-Badger Small           Conference Golf               First Team Name School Yr.
