Heights track teams fare well at conference

Wisconsin Heights’ track teams competed at the Capitol Conference meet on May 14. Here’s are the Vanguards that earned top-6 finishes:   GIRLS • Bryn Meyer won the 100-meter dash (13.19) and was second in the 200-meter dash (27.11). Meyer was also fourth in the long jump (16-7 ¾) and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (50.76). • Izabel Durst won the 400-meter dash (1:02.68). • The Vanguards’ 800-meter relay team was sixth.   BOYS • The Vanguards’ 800-meter relay team was third. • Drew Jacobus was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (41.99). • Keevon Owen was fourth in the triple jump (39-9 ¼). • John Reader was fifth in the shot put (44-8 ¼). • Cody Blicharz was sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.65). • Kirk Caminiti was sixth in the 1,600-meter run (4:44.93). • Griffin Owens was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.83). • The Vanguards’ 3,200-meter relay team was sixth. • On deck: Heights was at the Prairie du Chien Regional on Monday. The top four finishers in each event at regionals advance to sectionals. If any Vanguards advance to sectionals, they will be held in Portage on Thursday. The top three finishers in each event at sectionals move on to the state meet May 31 and June 1 in La Crosse.
