Eagles’ baseball team has busy week

Sauk Prairie’s baseball team had an extremely busy week, going 2-3 in a five-game stretch. Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ week: • McFarland 9, Sauk Prairie 2 — The visiting Spartans erased a 2-0 deficit with a six-run fifth inning and pulled away from the Eagles on May 6. Brason Ballweg had the Eagles’ lone RBI, as Sauk Prairie managed just five hits. • Sauk Prairie 5, Stoughton 0 — Austin Pagel and Brason Ballweg combined on a two-hit shutout to power the Eagles past the Vikings on May 10 in the first game of a doubleheader. Pagel threw the first five innings, allowing just two hits. Pagel struck out seven and walked six. Ballweg threw the final two frames, didn’t allow a hit and struck out one. Ballweg also went 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Marty Hanna went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a triple, while Cayden Hermsdorf added two hits. • Stoughton 10, Sauk Prairie 2 — The Vikings pounded out 10 hits and rolled in the second half of a doubleheader on May 10. Marty Hanna and Bryan Breunig had RBIs for the Eagles. • New Richmond 11, Sauk Prairie 4 — New Richmond scored in every inning but one and rolled past the Eagles on May 11. Marty Hanna had a terrific day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Austin Pagel and Brason Ballweg both had two hits. • Sauk Prairie 12, Adams-Friendship 1 — Ashton Parchem-Ramirez drove in four runs and powered the Eagles past A-F last Saturday. Parchem-Ramirez had two hits and scored two runs. Bryan Breunig scored a pair of runs, while Marty Hanna, Boden Frosch, Cole Helgerson and Joe Frosch all had RBI. That was plenty of offense for Breunig, who threw the first four innings and picked up the win. Breunig allowed just two hits, one earned run, walked three and struck out two.
