Girls co-op lacrosse team splits two games

The DeForest co-op lacrosse team, which includes players from Sauk Prairie, split a pair of games last week. Waunakee downed DeForest, 12-6, on April 22. The Norskies then defeated Watertown, 14-6, on April 25. • Waunakee 12, DeForest 6 — The Norskies fell to the visiting Warriors in an exciting contest. “Defense was on point,” DeForest coach Jayna Poster said. “When the opposing team has 30 players and we have 14 it makes for a really long game for the Norskies. But as long as they stick together and talk and have fun, we are always up for the challenge.” Poster was thrilled with the work of junior goalie Kaylin Forsythe. “She takes a beating and keeps ticking,” Poster said. “We are all so proud of Kaylin! She has been rocking the goalie stick.  “This is her first year as a full-time goalie. She has really owned it this season. Being a goalie you need big shoulders. It’s so much stress and pressure, but we always have to remember the ball has to go through 11 other players before it gets to the goalie.” • DeForest 14, Watertown 6 — The visiting Norskies rolled to a big win at Watertown. “The team was working really well together,” Poster said.
