Girls track team third at Badger Challenge
Sauk Prairie’s girls track and field team finished in third place at the 13-team Badger Challenge on April 9.
The Eagles’ boys were ninth.
“Our teams competed very well,” Eagles coach Andy Sherman said. “Both teams showed a lot of potential and a lot to be excited about. I cannot wait to see how the rest of the season plays out.
“There were a lot of great performances and many PRs set. I am very pleased with how well everyone competed.”
Waunakee won the girls’ meet with 121 points. DeForest (94), Sauk Prairie (68.5), Mount Horeb (66) and Baraboo (66) rounded out the top five.
Sauk Prairie’s top finishes on the girls’ side included:
• Junior MariElla Viola won the 100-meter dash, while senior Ayla Sorg was 10th.
• Sauk Prairie’s 400-meter relay team of Ella Weigel, MariElla Viola, Ayla Sorg and Lexi Been was first.
• The Eagles’ 800-meter relay team of Weigel, Viola, Sorg and Been was also first.
• Sauk Prairie’s 3,200-meter relay team of Charlotte Gregg, Aaliyah Bermudo, Evelyn Bahe and Catherine Gregg was second.
• Junior Taylor Snyder was third in the 100-meter hurdles, while junior Claire Hartman was eighth.
• Senior Lexi Been was third in the 200-meter dash.
• Junior Taylor Snyder was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and junior Claire Hartman was fifth.
• Senior Charlotte Gregg was fourth in the 800-meter dash.
• Sophomore Leah Engelby was seventh in the high jump.
• Junior Ava Sandeman was seventh in the triple jump.
• Junior Lainey Dillon was 10th in the 3,200-meter run.
• Junior Reagan Chrisler was 10th in the pole vault.
On the boys’ side, Waunakee finished first with 104 points. Reedsburg (98.5), DeForest (92.5), Monona Grove (88) and Stoughton (58) rounded out the top five.
Sauk Prairie finished ninth with 42 points.
The Eagles’ top finishes on the boys side included:
• Junior John Fabian was second in the long jump and sophomore Otis Andres was ninth.
• Fabian was also second in the triple jump.
• Senior Michael Blau was fourth in the high jump.
• Sauk Prairie’s 800-meter relay team of Landon Schultz, John Fabian, Wyatt Gibbs and Ezekiel Nielsen was fourth in the 800-meter relay.
• Junior Trent Backeberg was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles. • Backeburg was also eighth in the 300 meter hurdles.
• Sauk Prairie’s 400-meter relay team of Landon Schultz, John Fabian, Wyatt Gibbs and Ezekiel Nielsen was fifth in the 400-meter relay.
• The Eagles’ 3,200-meter relay team of Taylor Iserning, Micah Boerger, Drake Brensike and Hunter Brensike was seventh.
• Sophomore Wyatt Gibbs was seventh in the 100-meter dash.
• Junior Landon Schultz was seventh in the 200-meter dash.
• Senior Nick Dunnum is eighth in the discus and Jacob Sherman was 10th.
• The Eagles’ 1,600-meter relay of Otis Andres, Caleb Breunig, Drew Hicken and Jaxon Martin was 10th.
