Softball Vanguards start slow

Wisconsin Heights’ girls softball team is off to an 0-3 start. The Vanguards dropped a 15-7 decision to Pecatonica on March 29. Heights then lost a pair of games last Saturday — 14-1 to Dodgeville and 12-0 to Potosi/Cassville. In Heights’ loss to Pecatonica, Haley Wipperfurth had two triples. four hits and three RBI. Ayla Schwarz also had two hits, while Maya Luko and Alyssa Staplemann both scored two runs. Heights managed just four hits in its loss to Dodgeville, and was no-hit against Potosi/Cassville. • On deck: Heights was at Lodi Tuesday, then hosts Waterloo Thursday at 5 p.m. The Vanguards then are at Sauk Prairie Friday at 5:15 p.m. and host Big Foot Saturday at 10 a.m.        BASEBALL Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team is also off to an 0-3 start. The Vanguards fell to Dodgeville, 18-0, on March 28. Then on April 6, Waterloo defeated the Vanguards, 10-6, and Sauk Prairie downed Heights, 3-2. • On deck: The Vanguards were scheduled to host Poynette Thursday at 5 p.m., then host Cuba City Monday at 5 p.m. Heights is then scheduled to host New Glarus April 16 at 5 p.m.
