Heights’ Vosburg receives all-conference honors

Explosive. Consistent. Reliable. Jon Vosburg was all of that — and more — for Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team this season. And the Vanguards’ senior guard was rewarded with honorable-mention all-conference honors. “Jon Vosburg was definitely deserving of honorable mention all-conference honors this season,” Heights coach Nolan Krentz said. “He was our most consistent player throughout the season, playing in and starting every game for us.” Vosburg finished the year averaging 14.0 points per game, shooting 53.3% from the field and 68.0% from the free throw line. He also averaged 5.6 rebounds per game. In conference play, Vosburg improved his averages to 14.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 50.9% from the field and 61.3% at the free throw line.   Vosburg scored in double figures in nine of 10 conference games and had three double-doubles.   “He was the player teams focused the most on trying to stop when playing us this season and still was extremely effective scoring and finishing inside for us,” Krentz said. “Jon will not be an easy player to replace in our lineup next season.” Cambridge junior Matt Buckman was named the league’s Player of the Year. The rest of the league’s first team all-conference players included Belleville senior Jack Erickson, Marshall junior Kenyon Miggins, New Glarus senior Max Marty and Waterloo senior Benny Marshall.           All-Capitol South  Conference Boys Basketball           First Team Name School Yr.
