River Valley/ Barneveld gymnasts host conference meet
The River Valley/ Barneveld (RVB) gymnastics co-op hosted the SWC conference meet this past Thursday night. Dodgeville coop took first place with 131.375 points followed by the Southwestern co-op with 129.700.
“River Valley had a successful meet,” said River Valley head coach Amber Seffrood, “with Emma Buringa and Makenzie Weaver debuting new skills on bars, with Makenzie earning a season high score of 6.8. On beam Ella Prochaska and Anya Seffrood had no-fall routines, and Kelly Ojibway completed her 1.5 turn.
“Anya Seffrood took first place on bars with a score of 8.55, fourth place on beam with a score of 8.8, first place on floor with a score of 9.15, and third place in all-around with a score of 34.75.
“The All-Conference awards were presented at the meet, recognizing the top performers during the regular conference season. Anya Seffrood made first team all-conference for each event and in all around, taking fourth place on vault, second place on bars, fifth place on beam, fifth place on floor, and fifth place in all around.”
Individual results for the vault: Anya Seffrood placed sixth with a score of 8.250. Kelly Ojibway placed 16th with a score of 7.800. Makenzie Weaver placed 19th with a score of 7.700. Simone Jelle placed 22nd with a score of 6.900. Ella Prochaska placed 23rd with a score of 6.700.
Individual results for the uneven bars: Anya Seffrood placed first with a score of 8.550. Makenzie Weaver placed 16th with a score of 6.800. Kelly Ojibway placed 19th with a score of 6.450. Ella Prochaska placed 19th with a score of 5.200. Emma Buringa placed 22nd with a score of 4.300.
Individual results for the balance beam: Anya Seffrood placed fourth with a score of 8.800. Kelly Ojibway placed 14th with a score of 7.650. Ella Prochaska finished 19th with a score of 7.300. Makenzie Weaver placed 24th with a score of 6.200. Simone Jelle placed 25th with a score of 5.950.
Individual results for the floor exercise: Anya Seffrood placed first with a score of 9.150. Makenzie Weaver placed 19th with a score of 7.350. Ella Prochaska placed 23rd with a score of 6.850. Phoebe Butteris placed 24th with a score of 5.000. Peyton Hill placed 25th with a score of 3.600.
This week the girls will travel to Platteville on Saturday for sectionals to compete for a place at the state meet.
