Betty J. Kraemer

Betty J. Kraemer, age 90, of Plain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 30, 1935, in Ridgeway, Wisconsin, the daughter of Herman and Pauline (Ast) Rikli. On June 9, 1956, Betty was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Kraemer, and together they shared more than 69 years of love, laughter, and devotion. Betty’s greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured every gathering, where laughter and conversation came easily and good times were often shared over cocktails. She created a warm, welcoming home and countless cherished memories for those she loved. She devoted many years as a stay-at-home mom, later working as a hostess at The Spring Green Restaurant and at Lands’ End in their call center. Betty also gave her time as a volunteer at St. Luke’s Catholic School. One of her most beloved roles was being “Grandma Reader,” a title she carried with pride and love. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, baking treats for family and friends, and playing golf. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now free from pain, watching over them with a smile. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Kraemer; her children, Lisa (Pat) Price, Greg (Janet) Kraemer, Jane (George Minkel) Kraemer, and Kristen (Mark) Schoenmann; her grandchildren, Matt (Connie) Price, Tim (Kim Heck) Price, Jeremy (Meredith) Kraemer, Jason (Sally) Kraemer, Megan (Matt) Nachreiner, Alexis (fiancé Jacob Frazer) Cummings, and Abigail (Mason Henkel) Cummings; Bonus-Grandchildren, Taylor (Yoan) Iliev, Jordan (Nathan) Sexton-Schoenmann and Sidney Schoenmann; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Judy Speth; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Pauline Rikli; her brother, Bill Rikli; her sister-in-law, Mary Rikli; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Speth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Catholic School. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Maplewood Nursing Home, especially those in the Birch Wing, for the special care and kindness they shared with Betty.
