UW starts new beef education program

The Wisconsin Beef Special Edition virtual series will begin Dec. 8.

It will start at 7 p.m. with a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session until 8:30 p.m. on Zoom. The featured topics will be estimating hay needs and budget decision tools for heifer enterprises.

The program is organized by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension Livestock Program.

There is no charge to view this or future sessions but registration is required one week prior to each meeting. To sign up, visit go.wisc.edu/FarmReadyResearch.

Future topics and dates will include mineral and vitamin needs for beef cattle, Jan. 12; management of newly weaned calves in feedlots, Feb. 9; hairy heel wart and how it threatens beef operations, Feb. 23; weed management on pasture, March 9; and direct marketing meat and an introduction to Meat Suite, March 23.
