SP baseball continues to rack up victories

The beat goes on.

And boy, what a magnificent rhythm it’s become.

Sauk Prairie’s baseball team won a pair of games last week and pushed its winning streak to six games.

The Eagles defeated Lodi, 2-1, on May 14. Sauk Prairie then edged Wisconsin Heights, 9-7, on May 16.

That’s how close visiting senior midfielder McKenna Breunig and Sauk Prairie came to upsetting Madison Edgewood — ranked No. 2 in Division 3 — in a girls match on May 13.

Weston still could win league title despite 2 losses on baseball diamond

Weston is still in position to share the championship this season in Ridge and Valley Conference Baseball, but they won’t do it with an unblemished record. After starting the league season 11-0, the Silver Eagles suffered league loss number one last Thursday with an 8-3 setback at Ithaca.

Weston and Ithaca were able to avoid the major storms last Thursday to get in their Ridge and Valley softball game but the Weston girls lost a 12-1 decision, Ithaca’s second win over t he Silver Eagles.

SP tennis has only one victor in conference tourney

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis team competed at the Badger Small Conference tournament last Friday.

Eagles’ No. 1 singles player Sebastian Gavol won his first match, before losing in Round 2. The rest of Sauk Prairie’s players lost their opening match.

Sauk Prairie softball still on losing streak

Agonizingly close.

That’s how Sauk Prairie’s winless girls softball team must feel about last week.

The Eagles lost all three games, but two of those three losses were by a single run.

Sauk Prairie hoped to break into the win column, but instead slipped to 0-20 overall, 0-13 in the Badger Small Conference.

River Valley boys win 3 straight on baseball diamond

It’s a turnaround that is just what the doctor ordered for the River Valley Blackhawks baseball team. R-V won only once in the first 13 games of the season, but wins have been coming their way of late as the WIAA Playoffs kick off in the coming days.

Bats come alive before important week for Reedsburg Beaver baseball

Reedsburg experienced a bit of an offensive slump for five games at mid-season during this high school baseball season, a surprise when you consider the roster has talented and for the most part, experienced hitters. The bats have come alive, however, just in time for the most important week of the conference season coming up.
