Wisconsin Heights’ girls volleyball team went 2-3 at its own invitational last Saturday.
Lake Mills defeated the Vanguards, 25-23, 25-21, to begin the day. Heights then posted a 25-22, 21-25, 15-6 win over Monticello.
The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld cross country teams competed at the Mount Horeb Invitational last Saturday.
The Vanguards’ boys finished ninth out of 11 teams, while the girls were eighth out of eight teams.
DeForest won the boys race with 26 points, while Heights/Barneveld finished with 223 points.
The Beavers battled for well over two hours on the volleyball court Thursday but came up short, losing three of five sets in a conference match at Stoughton.
After winning eight of the first 10 duals of the high school girls tennis, the Beavers have now dropped three in a row against some tougher competition, including two last week at Baraboo and on the road at Edgewood.
Victory tasted sweet on Saturday afternoon for those associated with the Wonewoc-Center/Weston Silverwolves co-op football team.
After a close loss and a lopsided loss to begin the season, the Silverwolves were in control for most of the day en route to a 42-14 victory at Monticello in eight-man football action.
Reedsburg turned its best score of the conference season in the nine-hole format on the golf course last Thursday but the Beaver girls still lost Badger Small duals vs. Portage and Edgewood in conference action last week.
It was Saturday only this past week in terms of a competition day for the Reedsburg Beaver cross country teams, who traveled south to compete in the Annual River Valley Invite in Spring Green.
Reedsburg was one of 20 schools competing in the large school grouping, with both Beaver squads finishing outside the top 15 teams.
Only two teams remain in the Monday Night Men’s Golf League at the Reedsburg Country Club.
On Monday evening, Flogger’s defeated G6 Lawn Hydration to reach the finals where they will meet Evergreen Custom Builders as they defeated Hartje Lumber in the other semi-final.
