Winter sports season will be upon us at the high school-level by the time next Monday rolls around.

The high school girls basketball teams and players state-wide will hit the floor for pre-season practices next week.

The Reedsburg Beaver Boys Soccer program has announced the team’s award winners for the 2024 season.

A pretty sizable contingent of Beaver fans from made the trek from Reedsburg to Waukesha Friday night for WIAA Playoff Football and although the end result was not favorable for the Beavers, the fans on hand were treated to another game for the ages, albeit for different reasons than the record-setting performance of the week previous.

For the second year in a row, Weston’s Vivian Spencer is a member of the All-Conference first-team in Ridge and Valley Volleyball as the all-league teams have been announced.

Reedsburg entered the post-season with some definite momentum as the Beaver boys soccer team got a bit healthier late in the season.

Weston ended the high school volleyball season last week with a loss in four sets at Wauzeka in the opening round of the WIAA Tournament series.

Freshman Deakin McDonough was Weston’s first-ever high school runner in a WIAA Sectional as he competed on Saturday in a WIAA D-3 Sectional Meet at Prairie Du Chien.

McDonough completed the course in a time of 20 minutes, 46.7 seconds and placed 93rd overall in the boys race.

Reedsburg will have a boys cross country runner competing at the WIAA State Meet this week for the first time since 2006.
