Beaver girls basketball end losing skid with pair of lopsided wins

A losing streak came to an end and two much needed victories were registered this past week for the Beaver girls basketball team with conference wins coming on the road against Baraboo and Portage as the Beavers improved to 9-11 overall and 5-5 in league play in the Badger Small.

Beaver boys win 1 of 3 in tight games on the basketball court

It was a week with three games and three tight games at that for the Reedsburg Beaver boys basketball squad but Reedsburg was able to win only one of the three contests but that victory was a league win in impressive fashion at Sauk-Prairie.

Gymnasts shatter school record

Sauk Prairie gymnastics coach Justin Anderson knew her team was capable of a memorable performance. Personal bests. Flawless routines. Record scores. It all came together for the Eagles on Jan. 28 when they obliterated the previous school record and defeated Waunakee/DeForest, 137.725-131.725. Sauk Prairie’s old school record was 136.225.

Wisconsin Heights girls capture two of three

The streak is over. And a much better one has begun for Wisconsin Heights’ girls basketball team. The Vanguards snapped a four-game losing streak with a 47-41 win over Dodgeville on Jan. 28. Heights followed that with a 68-47 dismantling of Waterloo on Jan. 31. The Vanguards are now 9-7 overall and 1-4 in the Capitol South Conference.

Sauk Prairie’s girls split a pair

Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team split a pair of games last week. The Eagles defeated Mount Horeb, 55-45, on Jan. 28. Sauk Prairie then fell to Stoughton, 60-47, on Feb. 1. Sauk Prairie is now 9-8 overall and 6-4 in the Badger Small Conference. Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ week.

Baraboo rallies past Sauk Prairie’s boys

This one really stung. Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball team led visiting Reedsburg most of the game on Jan. 30. The Beavers rallied late, though, and knocked off the Eagles, 67-63. Sauk Prairie fell to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in the Badger Small Conference. Reedsburg improved to 8-9, 3-5.

Wisconsin Heights boys win one, lose one

Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team split a pair of games last week. The Vanguards defeated Parkview, 57-53, on Jan. 28. Heights also fell to New Glarus, 71-54, on Jan. 30. The Vanguards are now 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the Capitol Small Conference. Here’s a recap of Heights’ week:

Eagles’ swimmers down Stoughton on ‘Senior Night’

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimming and diving team defeated Stoughton, 101-69, on Jan. 28. The Eagles finished their conference dual meet season with a 4-1 mark. The Eagles had first place finishes in four individual events and one relay. But Sauk/Heights’ depth helped it defeat the Vikings.
