Guest commentary: Fly-In/Drive-In Breakfast soared to success
Who could ask for a more perfect day for the 69th Annual Fly-In/Drive-In Pancake Breakfast? The weather was picture-perfect, allowing the community and surrounding communities to gather for a delicious homemade breakfast and catch-up with family and friends. There were many activities to explore after breakfast. The fire trucks, police vehicles and ambulance services always gather a crowd.
We thank all of our service providers for protecting our community. The airplane rides, educational booths, DJ, cornhole game and over 100 planes were all part of the fun. I am sorry if I missed something, I was busy mixing the eggs we served (ha, ha)…and the sound of laughter and conversation filled the air all morning.
On behalf of the Reedsburg Area Flying Club I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who came to the breakfast and supported general aviation in Reedsburg. We appreciate your contributions to the fundraiser, which allows us to provide 60 to 80 complimentary Discovery Flights and over 100 Young Eagles flights annually in our area, and supports our mission of making aviation available and affordable for everyone.
In addition, I would like to extend a special thank you to Reedsburg Aviation and the Reedsburg Municipal Airport for the use of the hangar and their year-round support of general aviation, and to Lake’s Gas Company for donating the gas to cook the breakfast, to the Sauk Dairy Breakfast committee for the use of their equipment, to the Reedsburg Senior Life Center for the use of their bus, to Davis Home Furnishings and Flooring for the carpet under foot for those serving food, and to our many local business sponsors: Sunrise Veterinary Services, True Value Hardware, Viking Village Foods, Carquest, TC’s AirCare, Gawronski Signs, Koenecke Ford and Lichte Insurance, whose contributions fueled the 70+ airplane rides enjoyed by so many. We also wish to thank all the members of the community who volunteered to help in the dining room, the serving line, flipping pancakes, making eggs, cooking sausage, shuttling guests, selling tickets, and a number of other details that go into putting on this special event. Thank you also to the football players and coaches who helped set things up and take them down. If you were part of this event in any way, I want you to know that you are indeed appreciated!
