Dear editor, On June 10th and on September 2nd several family members and friends gathered at The Shed/ Post House Garden in Spring Green in honor and in celebration of Rosie Layton, an unforgettable gal with the cutest laugh and a fantastic personality ! Rosie sadly passed away September 12, 2020,  and broke many hearts on that rainy day!  So, in keeping Rosie`s Spirit alive, those that gathered for both Local Night events, especially when Better Daze played on September 2, there was so much laughter, tons of smiles and of course, dancing. Rosie always looked forward to hearing them play and to dance to her favorite song “ Do you Wanna Dance”, the way they played it. On that evening John and the band addressed the crowd with heartfelt comments about Rosie  before playing her song.  Thanks John! Thank you guys for your kind comments about your number one Fan and Go- Go gal!  We know Rosie was there in spirit and was surly smiling and dancing along with all of us, we  know that once the music started, she could never sit still!  It was a wonderful evening and more meaningful memories to hold dear for all of us who were there. Karen (Pletzer) Fowler Wisconsin Rapids   Dear editor, The River Valley Cross Country team hosted the 44th River Valley Invitational on Saturday, September 11.  This event has consistently been one of the largest in the state, and it couldn’t happen without so many volunteers.  This year our invite hosted 36 teams and almost 1,100 runners competed!  A big thank you to Steve Stettler, Jaime Hegland, and Jon Novak for their help with the course setup.  Kudos to the RV Booster Club and Golf Team (Matt Snow and Brent Johnson) for operating the concession stand, and to Michelle and Rachel Orcutt for operating the t-shirt stand.  We had a few dozen other volunteers that helped out in so many ways and were critical to the meet running smoothly.  The cross country team greatly appreciates the time and efforts of everyone involved in making our invitational a huge success.  Brian Krey Head coach, River Valley Cross County Spring Green Dear editor, September 12 – 18 is National Assisted Living Week.  This annual observance celebrates those who live in assisted living residences and the caring, dedicated staff members who serve them.
