District administrators corner
by Loren Glasbrenner,
River Valley School District Administrator
As the River Valley School District moves into the future, we have to plan carefully. We need to analyze the opportunities we offer at RVSD that will launch our students successfully into the 21st century—and this task goes way beyond our classroom. We need to build opportunities that propel our students to become leaders. We want our students to be citizens that are looked up to for many reasons. And, we want our students to leave their years at River Valley with Blackhawk Pride.
The River Valley stadium, which is the center of our main campus and a hub of great activity, is in need of attention. With improvements, our stadium can become more widely used and become a regional focus for opportunities. During the current fundraiser for the Stadium Upgrade Project, we continue to be honored by donations from residents, alumni, family, friends, and faculty who recognize that through their generosity, we can make a difference. As of Sunday, October 24, 2021, we have raised $286,902! However, in order to move forward with the project, the board approved raising 75 percent ($562,500) of our total goal ($750,000) by the end of this calendar year. Please consider donating to support this project.
Our field surface has the opportunity to be used five times more than it is currently being used. With an initial analysis, the stadium could be used approximately 250 times each year (compared to the current 50). This includes all levels of football and soccer. In addition, this state-of-the-art facility would provide a consistent surface for marching band, cheer/dance team, and all physical education students.
The response from our community matters, and the generosity we have received is incredible! Updating our facility will increase student opportunities and community pride. Staff and students agree that improvements of any kind have a positive impact and will rekindle the pride that River Valley has always held. Not only does this project continue to display the great support that our communities have for our schools, but it builds pride and promise for our students’ future. Simply put, this investment will have long term effects for our students and families as we build our Blackhawk Pride! Thank you for considering this worthy cause.
