Obituary: John E. Reuter

John E. Reuter 70, of rural Loganville, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024 with his family at his side after a three-year battle with colon cancer.
John was born in Richland Center to Reginald and Eleanor Reuter on April 1, 1954. He graduated from River Valley High School in 1972 and went to work at ABS of DeForest. While living in Madison, he met his wife of 49 years Kathy Harms of Reedsburg. They were married April 12, 1975. After several years they moved back to Kathy’s home dairy farm and farmed with her parents and raised their three children until 1992. At that time John went to work for Co-op Country Partners in the hardware store and then moved to the agronomy plant as manager until his retirement in 2019 for United Cooperative.
He was involved in many community activities including being a past member of the Loganville Fire Department. He was a board member of the RS&L Co-op, served on the Board of Christian Education at St Peter’s Lutheran School in Reedsburg, and taught hunter’s safety classes. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always ready for a game of euchre, 500, or sheepshead. He took many trips out west for elk and also fishing into Canada. He helped coach his children’s sports teams, assisted with their FFA animal projects, helped coach softball for his granddaughter, and followed all their activities. He was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.
Survivors include his wife Kathy Reuter, sons Ryan (Miranda) Reuter, and Russell (Käthe) Reuter and daughter Renee Reuter, grandchildren Masina Reuter, Broxton and Maxwell Reuter, Ellis and Avery Reuter. Siblings Charlotte Bangert, Donald (Bonnie) Reuter, Judy (Larry) Sebranek, Barb (Jim) Bristol, Sandy (Dave) Herro and Mary Lou Smith, Sister-in-law Marie (Kevin) Holman and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Bill and Tootie Harms.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11:00 am at St John Lutheran Church in Loganville, WI. Pastor Tim Anderson will officiate. Visitation was on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, and at the church in Loganville on Wednesday from 10:00 until 10:45. Burial followed services at St. John’s Cemetery in Loganville.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in John’s name to the Reedsburg Outdoor Club to assist with the Hunter Education Program.
