Black Earth--Joseph Ripp, age 79, of Cross Plains, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Milestone Senior Living. He was born on October 1, 1945, in Madison, the son of Martin and Olive (Maly) Ripp.
Joseph graduated from Middleton High School in 1963, and he served in the U.S. Army. He loved farming as a hobby and being a mechanic. As a mechanic he fondly acquired the nickname, “Gotta Go Joe.”
Joseph was a life-long and active member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed volunteering and attending meetings. He was honored to be awarded Knight of the Month five times, and Knights of Columbus Family of the Year. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching the wildlife and driving to travel around the states.
Joseph is survived by his three sons, Jay (Lisa Welch) Ripp, Eric Lee (Ixchel) Ripp and Jeremy (Mindy) Ripp; eight grandchildren, Ethan (Lily Lustig) Ripp, Izzy Ripp, Oakley Ripp, Hillary Ripp, Kallie Ripp, Aidan Ripp, Cooper Ripp and Silas Ripp; brothers, Raphael (Betty) Ripp and Eugene (Marcia) Ripp; and sisters, Mary Kay (Paul) Doerpholz, Barbara Lauersdorf, Rita (Randy) Lesch, Sharon (Gary) Conohan and Rosemarie (George) Halik. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Olive; two brothers, James Ripp and Steven Ripp; and sister, Kendall Ripp.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at ST. BARNABAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 Cramer St., Mazomanie, at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024. A visitation was held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO BLACK EARTH FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1710 Center St., Black Earth, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
