Obituary: David Edward Meyer

David Edward Meyer, son of Stanley and Joice Meyer, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 6th, 2024. He was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reedsburg. He was a part of the 1989 graduating class at Webb High School. He pursued higher education at UW Platteville - Baraboo and MATC in Madison. He worked at Great Big Pictures in the early 2000s where his role was finishing supervisor. He worked extensively with darkroom photography, large-scale printing, and advertising. He later worked at MCD in Madison and continued printing and finishing. His only daughter Alexandra was born in 2002 and she became the most important thing in his life. He loved the great outdoors, especially hiking with his daughter at Devil’s Lake and other places all over Wisconsin, and even the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. He was passionate about rock climbing, photography, literature, and art all throughout his life. He embraced curiosity and loved continuing to learn in various scientific fields, including chemistry, geology, and astronomy, along with physics and math. Music was also an integral part of his life, attending well over 100 concerts with friends and eventually with his daughter later in life. His ashes will be buried next to his brother at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Winfield Township, Sauk County. He is survived by his mother Joice and daughter Alexandra Meyer. He was preceded in death by his father Stanley and brother Kurt Meyer, grandparents Rupert and Lucille Mittlesteadt, and Edward Meyer. Burial and celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
