Obituary: Lilas Gertrude Abel Phillips Rabine

Lilas Gertrude Abel Phillips Rabine, age 89 of Loretto Ridge, Plain, passed away peacefully Monday, December 16, 2024 at Pine Valley Nursing Home in Richland Center, after a stroke 1 ½ years ago. She was born May 18, 1935 as a twin in Poynette to Joe and Myrtle (Mack) Abel.

Lilas attended Lime Ridge High School. She was married to Robert Phillips from September 3, 1955 to May 30, 1978 . Later she was married to Bob Rabine October 23, 1982 to March 28, 2015. Llias drove school bus, worked at the Badger Ammunition Plant, Hankscraft, K-Mart, bartended for many years at Drea’s Bar, she helped manage Maple Aire Park with Bob. Lilas loved to read and fish. She was also in a bowling league. She loved to dance and followed several bands, Buddy Doggs, Montey Berger, and The Hard Tellen Band. Lilas was a member in the W.W.C.M.A. She collected lighthouses, carousels, and hummingbirds. She enjoyed going to church.

Lilas was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many through the years.

She is survived by her son Gary (Jan) Phillips; step daughter Patt (Jim) Seep Rabine; grandson Robert Phillips; granddaughter Holly (Chad) Roberts; step grandson Skyler Seep; great grandsons Dimitri Phillips and Cyler Roberts; great granddaughter Payten Phillips; step great grandson Lawson Seep; twin sister Lorraine Cortleyou; sister in laws Karen Fowell and Marion Duren; brother in law Tom Duren; several nieces and nephews; good friends Mark Ewing and Jan Schroder; and our fur baby Gizmo.

Lilas was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; an infant son and daughter; sister; sister in law; and several brother in laws.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 A.M at Grasse Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Rev. Joe Corbin officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday. Online condolences may be made at www.grassefs.com.
