Arline Lois Cetner (NEE) Monson
Beloved mother and grandmother, Arline Lois Cetner (NEE) Monson, of LaValle, Wisconsin passed away at the age of 90 on May 2nd at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. She was born January 23rd, 1935 in Chicago to Ernest and Irene Monson.
Arline graduated from Schurz High. She attended The Northern Illinois State Teachers College, now Northern Illinois University; where she met the love of her life, Joseph Cetner, whom she married on May 8th 1954. Arline and Joe settled in the Fox Lake, Illinois area where they raised their family of four: two boys and two girls. In addition to raising children Arline was a Jewel checker for 33 years and also a Mary Kay consultant to help make ends meet after her husband passed away in 1981.
While still working at the Jewel she purchased a farm with her son in LaValle Wisconsin, after retiring she sold the farm and designed and built her dream home in nearby Dutch Hollow Lake. She subcontracted the building, employing members of the local Amish community. “Grandma’s house” also known as Hummingbird Haven was open to all she loved and their friends; and was a hub for many wonderful memories for her family, and especially her grandchildren. Arline was a volunteer for the LaValle School Library and was a member of the Reedsburg Area Women’s Club since 2003 where she served as treasurer from 2008 to 2020 and was inducted as a lifetime member in 2021. She was an avid Brewers fan, loved animals, particularly her Carin Terrier, Bailey, and enjoyed watching baseball games and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family held a private internment service on May 15th at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Fremont Center, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held on August 16th and 17th at her home in Dutch Hollow Lake.
