Roger Allen Gee

Roger Allen Gee April 24, 1940 –  September 13, 2024   Sauk City--Roger Allen Gee, age 84, of Sauk City, passed away on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Wis. Roger was born on April 24, 1940, in Elton, Wis., to Oscar and Ione (Wickersheim) Gee. He was the eldest of four siblings. During his childhood, the family moved from Antigo to Kenosha, Wis. There, Roger grew into a real motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed racing, hill climbing and attending rally events. His passion also led him to work at Mengo Motorcycle Sales as a mechanic. Around this time Roger was introduced to the love of his life, and best friend, Patricia Krahn, by her brother, Davy. Roger and Pat were married on June 10, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kenosha. They were the perfect example of a loving couple, conquering the world together and holding hands every step of the way. In 1962 they moved to Malibu, Calif., where Roger found work at Douglas Aircraft. He earned a private pilot’s license and flew Cessna Aircrafts. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1963. Roger served in the 11th Engineer Combat Battalion, Bravo Company at Camp Stanley in Korea. While there he constructed bridges and worked with explosives to build roads through the mountains. He also earned badges as an expert with a rifle and as a marksman with a pistol. After being discharged in 1965, Roger and Pat enjoyed years of traveling throughout the United States before settling down to raise their family in Mazomanie, Wis. Roger was mechanically inclined and could fix absolutely anything. With his talent, and the help of friends and family, Roger built the family home in a secluded wooded country lot. This setting proved to be an idyllic playground for his three sons, John, Corey, and Jason. Roger adored and was so proud of his sons. Roger cherished the time spent with his extended family, camping on the Mississippi River, hunting, fishing, and laughing together. They were very close and meant the world to him. He had several jobs throughout the years, including working at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant, driving a semi hauling explosives, and as a volunteer member of the Sauk County Sheriff’s posse. He retired from his job as the custodian for the Wisconsin Heights School District after 25 years. He always smiled when former students called out “Hey Mr. Gee, remember me?” years after he retired. Roger was a member of New Heights Lutheran Church, where he attended church services and often volunteered to help with meal prep for Family Faith Night. Roger also volunteered at the Senior Center in Sauk City, where he enjoyed time with his friends and helped with various tasks including making the coffee, for which he always received accolades. To know Roger, was to love him. He was a caring man who loved to laugh and tease. He will be missed by all that knew him. Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his parents; daughter-in-law, Cecilia (Gaeding) Gee; brother, Jerome Gee; and other extended family members and friends. He is survived by his children, John (Dana) Gee of Black Earth, Corey (Kim) Gee of Lake Mills and Jason Gee of Blue Mounds; grandchildren, Savana (Sam) Martens, Dylan Gee, Tanner Gee, Logan Severson, Raina Severson, Ava Gee and McCager Gee; great-granddaughter, Aayla Martens; sisters, Elaine Buelow of Rock Springs and Phyllis Wynn of Goliad, Texas; and many other family members and friends who he adored. A funeral service will be held at New Heights Lutheran Church, 314 Anne St., Mazomanie, at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. A celebration of life will follow at the Dorf Haus Supper Club, 8931 County Highway Y, Sauk City, beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
