Dear Editor, If they want to go after the “wealthy” there are a thousand ways to structure the tax code to do it. Their goal is to go after working people, freelancers, and very small businesses. They will not settle for anything less than complete and total surveillance. According to an article in The Epoch Times, whenever Democrats said they were taxing the “wealthy,” lower and middle income earners always got stuck with higher tax bills. The Democrat’s historic 3.5 trillion dollar spending bill is no different. The spending will cost every man, woman and child more than $11,100 and significantly increase taxes. For example, a married couple filing jointly with two children and a combined income of $6000 per month would owe $3600 per month (60 percent of income), on average, just in Federal income taxes alone, not including Social Security, Medicare, state taxes and other payroll deductions. Do you really believe that Democrats are going to put the screws to their billionaire donors and force them to pay for this massive spending bill? Of course not. That’s why they need to hire 87,000 IRS Enforcement Agents to spy on your bank accounts and squeeze as much money as they can from lower and middle income Americans who don’t have the resources to fight back. Obama squandered 8 trillion dollars in the Middle East during his eight years in office. Not to mention the $165 billion in cash he donated to Iran. The Biden Administration will be far worse. Democrats can’t be trusted with taxpayer funds. They have no fiscal responsibility. Any member of Congress that votes for the Democrats’ anti-American, anti-Privacy infrastructure/reconciliation bill needs to be voted out of office. Sincerely,   Scott Patchin Village of Black Earth   In early December, I was looking at different non-profit organizations to make a donation. I was specifically looking at their Amazon wish lists. I picked one and recruited our three adult children and my mom to pitch in. We were able to purchase 20 items off their list. I thought, “WOW! What an impact.” This led me to wonder if I could recruit 5-10 friends and ask them to help support a different Wisconsin non-profit each month and make a difference within these organizations. I contacted my friend Dianne. We came up with a name and started a Facebook page, Our Monthly Resolution. We have had tremendous response. Our October non-profit is Ben Jackson Foundation. The Foundation provides funds for service people to make a trip home to visit family and friends after they have been assigned to their first permanent location. Travel expenses can be cost-prohibitive and cover a substantial portion of what younger enlisted personnel earn in a month. The Foundation budgets $500 per Ticket Home Award for domestic travel. With the upcoming holidays, we thought it would be great for Our Monthly Resolution to fund as many of these tickets home as possible.  Our goal is to fund 4 domestic tickets. We have indicated that we prefer our funds be used to bring Wisconsin service people home. Thank you,   Stacie Prochaska and Dianne Vielhuber Arena and Poynette   The Robin Vos/Michael Gableman audit is a waste of $680,000 of taxpayers’ money.  This “fraudit” is not needed as audits have already shown no fraud in the 2020 election, and Gableman has admitted he knows nothing about how elections work. This money should have been spent on something that would actually be of benefit to the taxpayers of Wisconsin.  We need everyone to vote in the 2022 election to oust politicians who seem to care more about staying in power than about the people of Wisconsin, the quality of our environment and the maintenance and safety of our infrastructure. I don’t want to drive over unsafe bridges, drive on decaying roads or drink unsafe water and I am guessing neither do my fellow Wisconsinites. Let’s vote in politicians who are interested in doing something about these and other serious issues in our state.
