Dear editor,  During Teacher Appreciation Week (May 1 through 7) the board of the River Valley School District Endowment Fund wishes to acknowledge the excellent work our teachers, administrators, and staff do every day to enrich the learning of the RV students.  We are appreciative of your efforts during the entire school year, but especially during the past two years of COVID-19, we send our respect and gratitude for going the extra mile to keep our students engaged and learning. Thanks to the American Legion for letting us use the hall, to the Home News and WRCO and the local churches for advertising for us.  Thanks to family and friends who help set up and take down to make it all happen.  And  thanks to you donors who literally give of yourselves.   The next blood drive will be Monday, June 27. Additionally, the Post Prom Committee would like to thank all the parents and families that donated items and time to make our event a success.  River Valley High School SADD Spring Green   Dear editor, Three time Olympic medal winner Carie Graves, 1953-2021, was born and raised near Spring Green. The village would do well to consider a public memorial to celebrate her outstanding achievements as an outstanding athlete and as a leader in building women’s sports opportunities. She came of age right as Title IX opened opportunities on college campuses and high schools began to create women’s teams. She was at the cutting edge with her Olympic rowing teams, then as a coach at Harvard and the University of Texas. Her long list of awards even includes a Congressional Gold Medal. Everyone in the River Valley area should be proud to honor her with some public tribute to note her hometown. Maybe rename a Main Street as Carie Graves Avenue.  Bonita Sitter Blue Mounds
