Dear editor, My wife recently made me happy when she told me that we could get a pickup truck when our older car bites the dust. I was excited at the thought of getting an electric pickup truck, but worried about the lack of charging stations.  The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was signed into law and charging stations for electric cars are planned in that bill. My future looks brighter! I am also excited to learn that the rural broadband expansion is a prioritized part of that bill. Rural broadband will enable farmers, more work from home ITers, all of us, in fact, get faster, affordable internet. Now if many in the Wisconsin Legislature would only get over their ridiculous and damaging preoccupation with election “investigations” over nothing and concentrate instead on actually taking advantage of some of this federal legislation so that we can move forward on better roads and rail, better broadband, cleaner air and water and green economic development in our beautiful state! Sadly none of the Wisconsin Republicans in Congress joined with the Republicans who did support the bill. Sincerely, Tracey Brent, service director Plain EMS   Dear editor, The Friends of the Spring Green Community Library wish Lisa Thomas all the best in her new position as library director at the George Culver Community Library in Sauk City.  We are sorry to say goodbye to Lisa.  She did a fantastic job of navigating us through the COVID-19 pandemic.  She was creative, innovative, compassionate and hard working in the most difficult of circumstances.  Thank you, Lisa.  We will miss you! The Board of the Friends of the Spring Green Community Library   Dear editor, I was sorry to hear that we will be losing Lisa Renier Thomas, our Spring Green Community Library Director.  She has been warm, welcoming and creative in my dealings with her and I wish her well in her new job.  Happily, she is only headed to Sauk City, so one might stop in there to say hello.  The library board has been effective in recent years getting really good directors, but it is sad to lose them so soon. Barbara Morford Spring Green   Dear Editor, The Plain Ambulance would like to thank the community for their continued support and donations at our Fall Spaghetti Supper, which was held on November 2. A special Thank You to the American Legion for the use of their building. We appreciate the generous donation from Plain Kwik Stop for making and donating the cookies. Proceeds will go towards the Plain ambulance equipment fund Sincerely, Plain ambulance staff   Dear editor, I want to thank citizens of the Village of Spring Green and  Ward 2 of the Town of Spring Green for allowing me to serve as your representative on the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, District #24, for the last six years, and prior to that, 4 years representing parts of the City of Baraboo! This has been a very enlightening and fulfilling experience!  For personal reasons I will not be running as a candidate for that position for the upcoming term which begins April, 2022. I suggest that any potential candidates review the new expanded district, as it is significantly enlarged from previous boundaries. Nomination papers can be taken out starting on December 1 and must be turned in to the Sauk County Clerk by  January 4, 2022. Good luck to anyone choosing to run for this office!
