Letters to the Editor

Dear editor, I was glad to see that the issue of the safety of Highway 14 and Rainbow Road was in the June 16th issue of the Home News.  I think that it is important to point out that the initial call for concerned citizens’ voices to be raised on that issue came from Terri Anstett and other friends of the person injured in the recent accident at that intersection. Their response underscores what a loving, caring and conscientious community Spring Green truly is.  Damian Barta Spring Green   Dear editor, Volunteerism is a dying craft, especially when it comes to providing emergency medical assistance in rural communities. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staffing shortages is not a problem that is unique to our small communities, but it is becoming more of a dire issue. When you or a loved one needs help, you dial 911 expecting someone to answer the call. But what if there was nobody there to answer it? Ambulance services in our area are in jeopardy of cessation without the continued involvement and volunteerism of members of the community. Having an ambulance service is a vital piece in what makes a community thrive, knowing that if you ever need help, help will be there. Plain EMS will be hosting an informational open house on Wednesday, June 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the Plain Fire Station, 1015 Cedar Street, for anyone in the area that is interested in hearing more about how they can help. If you cannot make the meeting but are still interested in hearing more about how you can help, please contact me at (608) 574-9200. Please consider joining your local EMS service. It is a commitment you will never regret. Sincerely, Tracey Brent Plain EMS   Dear editor, We’d like to thank everyone for the support of the brat stand on June 4th and 5th and the donation that was given to the cookie jar.
